Customs & tax
Last updated: January 2026
ATHRA Sourcing acts as a shopping agent on your behalf. Parcels are shipped internationally from our warehouses to the delivery address you provide. Depending on your destination, your order may be subject to import duties, VAT, or other customs charges.
1. Who pays customs fees?
Customs duties, local VAT, and handling fees levied by your destination country are the sole responsibility of the recipient (you). These charges are not included in the item price, buy fee, or international shipping fee shown at checkout.
2. We do not charge VAT
ATHRA Sourcing is not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to or collected at checkout. The prices you see (item price, buy fee, international shipping) are the full amount we charge. Any import VAT, customs duties, or carrier handling fees levied by your destination country on delivery are separate and are the responsibility of the recipient (see section 1).
3. European Union & other regions
Import charges are determined by the destination country's customs authority. For parcels entering the EU, import VAT and any duties are assessed on arrival; the courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS, DPD, etc.) typically invoices the recipient for amounts owed, plus a small clearance fee, before final delivery. ATHRA Sourcing cannot waive these government-imposed charges.
4. Declared value and invoices
We declare the true paid value of the goods on every commercial invoice, in compliance with international trade law. Requests to under-declare the value of a parcel will be refused. Attempts to evade customs are a crime in most jurisdictions and can result in seizure of the parcel.
5. Prohibited & restricted items
It is your responsibility to confirm that every item you ask us to source is legal to import into your destination country. Categories commonly restricted include: food and beverages, cosmetics, prescription medicines, batteries and powerbanks, knives, replica firearms, drones, and brand-protected goods. If customs seizes a parcel, no refund can be issued.
6. Refused or unclaimed parcels
If you refuse to pay customs duties and the parcel is returned or destroyed by the carrier, no refund will be issued for the item, shipping, or customs-handling fees. Please double-check your import allowances before placing an order.
